Pewaukee Basketball: The Three Pillars

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

Have you ever played basketball? If you have, you know what you must do to succeed.  All Pewaukee Basketball teams follow the Three Pillars: Trust, Play Hard, and Be a Great Teammate.

TRUST

Trust might mean something different to different people, but Pewaukee Basketball players know how vital trust is when you are part of a team. Players must trust each other to commit to the game and try their best.  It might mean passing the ball and trusting someone else to make the play or shoot the game-winning shot.

PLAY HARD

When someone asks you to play hard, what does that mean? If you play Pewaukee Basketball, playing hard means giving your all whenever you walk onto the basketball court. If you play hard, you get noticed and have more opportunities to lead on and off the court.  Coaches appreciate players who hustle.

BE A GREAT TEAMMATE

Basketball is an excellent sport because it can teach you how to be a great team player on and off the court.  Teams depend on each other for success. When working toward a common goal, each player needs to commit to the team and do what they can to contribute.  It isn’t always easy to put personal wants and feelings aside, but the team comes first.  When we walk onto a Pewaukee basketball court, we feel a sense of pride.  We think about the teams that came before us and those who will come after us.  We all have something in common.  We all follow the Three Pillars: Trust, Play Hard, and Be a Great Teammate.

As you can see, the expectation of the Three Pillars encourages players to demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the court.  Pewaukee pride is not just about winning but also about setting a great example throughout our time in the Pewaukee School District.
