On November 5th, we interviewed Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Horvat about our new school motto, "Rowing Together, Every Learner, Every Day." We asked them some questions, and their answers helped us understand why this motto is so important.

The idea for the motto began over the summer, when a group of teachers and administrators attended a presentation. The speaker explained how professional rowers work closely as a team, which inspired Horizon staff members. They realized teamwork is important for everyone in our school community.

At Horizon, teachers believe every student can succeed. The motto shows that every learner is encouraged to do their best and that teachers are here to help. Mrs. Horvat and Mrs. Johnson hope students remember that we’re all in this together. They want us to support each other and work as a team, just like rowers in a boat.

We can see “rowing together” in action at school. In Hook Jr., students work together to create the published magazine. Mrs. Kramer’s class helps with the food drive. During monthly rewards, students work together toward goals. Every time we work together, we’re rowing toward something bigger than ourselves.

If we all row together, every learner every day, we move in the same direction and can make a difference. Even small acts, like being kind to classmates, show how much teamwork matters.

In the end, our new school motto reminds us that working together helps everyone succeed. It’s about teamwork, kindness, and making our school a place where every learner can shine!
