The Solar Eclipse is one of the most magical things in the world—it is something you will never forget. On April 8th, 2024, the United States had one of the rarest solar eclipses ever, a total solar eclipse.
What is a solar eclipse? A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes over the sun, casting a shadow on Earth. The eclipse makes the day look like night. It's a sight to see!
Solar eclipses are beautiful, but they are also dangerous. Looking at a solar eclipse directly can damage your eyes and even result in blindness! This is because the moon passing over the sun causes all the light to go around the moon, called the corona. I was prepared for the solar eclipse because I had certified eclipse glasses.
Unfortunately, I did not see the eclipse myself because the Pewaukee School District was concerned about the safety of the students during the eclipse. However, we still made the best of the event by looking at eclipse videos and discussing eclipse myths!
The next solar eclipse in the United States will occur on August 23rd, 2044. I can’t wait!
